it was redesigned by Plant Joy. (It may take a few seconds to load.)
The curving lines in this landscape design give an informal feel to the
yard. Allowing the grass to be the path between the two patios negates
using more hardscaping materials like rock or wood.
This yard needed a complete overhaul. The fountain was the center of
the yard and became the focal point from the main windows in the back
of the house and the deck and patio. It's colorful spray and delightful
sound can be heard throughout the yard. Lots of shrubs and dwarf trees
for pruning into interesting shapes were added, along with perennials
that will add color year-round.
Water shed on the public property next door to this homeowner left them with a
dilemma. The run-off eroded the soil and created flooding so an actual pond was
dug out and lined with rock. A meandering creek bed leads away from the house
and gives a new perspective to what was once an eyesore and detriment to the
house and land.
Adding focal points like ornamental trees as was done in this yard makes the
view from inside a whole lot more attractive.

This newly designed sign for a neighborhood needed extra special plants
that would compliment it all year with color, while staying easy to maintain.
Counter
Overgrown weeds and shrubs dominated this little yard to the detriment of the
house itself. Adding more color and variety gave this little cottage a fresh look.

"Liesl Palmer is a JOY to work with. Her knowledge of plants and true passion for what she does makes the landscaping process fun. I love how she listens to our
needs and works to achieve something that is aligned with our taste. I recommend her to all my friends."- Bryn Mathison, Irvine, CA

"I have known Liesl for about 4 years now. We met when I hired her to work as a landscape project manager. Part of her position entailed landscape enhancement
for our existing clients. That position was seasonal and since then Liesl has gone on to the field of landscape design and consultation. We've continued to work
with her on a contract basis for the last 3 years. She's a talented designer and I've been very impressed at how her knowledge of horticulture has grown. We've
worked with her on many projects over the years - both large and small. One of the things I admired most about Liesl in the time that she worked for us was her
dedication; she is a go-getter. I never had to worry about her not following through on something. I never had to manage her. I also appreciate her character and
honesty. There aren't many people I'd give this glowing of a recommendation to, but Liesl is definitely one of them. I enthusiastically recommend Liesl to anyone
wanting help renovating or designing their landscape. You will be pleased with her creativity and work ethic." -Jim Lewis, President, Lewis Landscape Services,

"Liesl Palmer helped transform my fathers' backyard from a construction zone disaster area to a place of refreshment, peace, and outdoor living.  With her design
and contractor contacts and our sweat, we worked together as a team.  She didn't just drop by a design, she came back when we began to implement the design
to provide guidance and clarification, painting lines in our yard and placing the plants where they needed to go.  She also made changes on the fly, showing great
flexibility when the vision didn't quite meet the requirements.  Looking at it now, it's hard to believe the backyard was once a vast hill of dirt and weeds.  We are
very pleased with the results."- Karen Ronning-Hall, Beaverton, OR

"Liesl did a landscape design plan (both front & back yard) for my husband and I, and we were absolutely thrilled with her ideas. She carefully listened to our wants
and implemented great solutions to our problem areas, plus she threw in some really cool elements. We finally have a direction and look forward to working with
her on the next phase of plant placement. I will continue to plug her services whenever I get the opportunity."- Laurie Isaacson, Wilsonville, OR

"I worked with Plant Joy to landscape my outdoor terrace. The process of planning was terrific; as we came up with plant ideas. I found Liesl a joy to work with.
Her ideas, after having a long conversation, were right in line with what my vision was for the space."- Don Miller, Portland, OR

"I am continuously impressed by Liesl’s passion in her business and in bringing color to her clients’ yards and lives!  Liesl has an amazing gift of looking at a blank
slate of a yard, envisioning an oasis, then step-by-step creating it and walking alongside her clients during the process.  I love how Liesl gets to know each of her
clients and their individual needs and goals for their yard and then works hard to create the perfect landscape catered just for them.  Her work not only reflects
her creativity and passion, but also her meticulous detailing.  I strongly recommend speaking with Liesl before you even pick up a shovel!"- Kim Dittler, Tualatin, OR

"We worked with Liesl on our new house. Our yard was overwhelming as we are first time home buyers. She helped us make it manageable. She gave us great
practical ways to maximize the spaces we had. most importantly, she offered us great suggesstions that we never would've imagined ourselves. Liesl was very
knowledgable and helped me understand different types of plants. I would recommend Liesl Palmer and Plant Joy Landscape Design."- Whitney Scovill and Greg
Trombley, Portland, OR

"I had an idea of what I wanted my backyard to be and Liesl made it even more amazing.  The plants she chose have been in constant bloom throughout the spring
and summer and it has been a joy to look out into my backyard and see Liesl's vision for my yard every day.  Forget using the big corporate landscape companies
when you can get an amazing and detailed plan from Liesl."- Andy Kappler, Beaverton, OR

This home had nice walkways and brick accented raised beds but little else was
appealing about it. A quietly bubbling pedestal fountain was made the focal
point from both the street and inside the home. It was then surrounded by
silver foliage and colorful orange and yellow flowers for extra appeal. The beds
following next to the house were brightened with colorful annuals like
petunias, kalanchoe and perennial Lily of the Nile.
Neighborhood entrances are the first indicator that an area is safe and well
maintained. This sign needed a new look with plants that were attractive
year-round and low maintenance. A dry creek bed completes the overhaul.

Patios and decks are amazing places to grow plants in containers.
The corner of a yard is perfect for resting in the shade. With the addition of
fruit trees, a trellis archway and climbing roses this shady area was made
much more interesting and beautiful.
